Head Start leaders recently joined an important statewide conversation about the future of early childhood education in New Jersey at Rowan University’s conference, “Expanding Child Care and Preschool Education in New Jersey: Achievements, Challenges and Opportunities.”

Bonnie Eggenburg, President of the Region II Head Start Association and Vice President of Gateway Community Action Partnership, participated alongside early childhood leaders, state officials, researchers, and advocates to discuss issues affecting young children, families, programs, and the early childhood workforce.

The event also featured Katrina T. McCombs, Assistant Commissioner of Education for the New Jersey Department of Education’s Division of Early Childhood Services. McCombs is a former Head Start child — a meaningful connection that demonstrates the lasting impact Head Start can have throughout a person’s life.
