On November 26, 2024, the NJHSA hosted a virtual training session, “Essential Tools for a New Head Start Workforce.” We had an engaging and insightful experience.

The session provided a comprehensive overview of essential tools and foundational knowledge from all OHS National Centers. Presenters shared key messages and strategies to support a new Head Start workforce, making it an informative experience for all attendees.

On November 11, 2024, the New Jersey Head Start Association hosted the Sharing Insights on Paperless Systems virtual meeting, bringing together 50 participants from across the state. The event highlighted the successes, challenges, and innovative solutions programs have embraced in their journey toward a paperless future. The key takeaways included:

• Transition Drivers and Tools: COVID-19 accelerated the shift to paperless systems, with programs like ChildPlus and Google Drive being key tools for document management, offering features like document attachment, modular design, and detailed reporting capabilities.
• Challenges and Strategies: Programs have faced hurdles such as scanning legacy files, addressing skepticism about cloud storage, and training staff with varying technology skills. Solutions included phased implementation, temporary staffing for scanning, and emphasizing benefits like improved communication and efficiency.
• Insights and Best Practices: Speakers highlighted the importance of editable PDFs, securing licensing approvals for digital forms, and fostering team buy-in through training and a collaborative approach. Success is driven by patience, adaptability, and a can-do attitude.
